Purpose
This pilot is for organisations that want more confidence in backup and recovery, but are not looking for a full redesign or managed service decision on day one. It is intended to validate that selected workloads can be restored in a controlled way, capture usable evidence, and identify the most important backup and recovery gaps before wider rollout.
What you get
- Restore testing for selected workloads against agreed targets
- Evidence pack with logs, screenshots, timings, and practical findings
- Documented restore runbook for the scoped pilot
- Clear gap list and recommended next steps
Typical outcomes
- Better clarity on whether current backups are usable in practice, not just successful on paper
- Greater confidence in restore timing, ownership, and operational readiness
- Practical priorities for immutability, off-site copies, MFA, and role separation where needed
Typical pilot scope
A focused backup and restore review for a limited set of workloads, one environment, and an agreed test approach. Final scope is confirmed through intake and the engagement SoW.
Best fit
- Businesses that already have backup tooling in place but want proof that restores will work when needed
- Teams preparing for audit, board reporting, insurance review, or internal risk reduction
- Environments where backup jobs exist but restore confidence is low or undocumented
Prerequisites
- Administrative access to the backup platform and restore targets
- A safe restore target, or an approved controlled production window by exception
- Named stakeholders available for validation and acceptance
Assumptions and boundaries
- One site or tenant, with a limited number of workloads in scope
- Change windows and communication expectations agreed in advance
- This pilot does not include a full backup estate redesign, DR buildout, or ongoing managed service
- The final engagement detail, scope, assumptions, and exclusions are confirmed in the SoW before work begins
Common risks we look for
- Backups that appear successful but are incomplete or not restorable
- No safe or practical restore target for testing
- Over-permissive admin access and weak role separation
- Recovery targets that are unrealistic for the current tooling or process
What happens after the pilot
If the pilot confirms the right direction, Virtus can help you extend the outcome into broader backup assurance, stronger operational controls, or a suitable managed service path.

Start pilot scoping
Use the intake form to tell us about your backup platform, restore priorities, and the outcome you want to achieve. If the scope looks suitable, we will confirm the next step and send the SoW for approval.
